In Illinois, several ultrasound technician schools are offering ultrasound degree programs. This is to prepare interested students in Illinois and even those who are not residents of Illinois. The schools can provide and substantiate the requirements for any student who wants to pursue a successful career as a technician in the future. Here are some of the ultrasound technician schools in Illinois, which could be one of your choices for education in ultrasound technology.

College Of Lake County Division Of Biological & Health Sciences

This community college belongs to the ultrasound tech schools in Illinois, which offers ultrasound training programs with the degrees in Associate of Applied Science in Medical Imaging, Certificate in Magnetic Resonance Imaging and Certificate in Computed Tomography. Included in the coursework are both lecture and clinical training to develop the skills and expertise the student needs to become a qualified ultrasound technician. There are limited slots of applicants to be accepted in the College of Lake County, which is the reason why there is an implementation of application screening. This is in order for the college to select a certain number of students every year.


Aside from the screening, the College of Lake County gives priority to the residents of Community College District 532. Other community districts are permitted to apply given that they belong to the community districts, which joined the college with the program called Joint Education Agreement. In order for an applicant to qualify for the screening process, he needs to have attended at least once the ultrasound program information sessions, which are carried out every first Monday of each Month.

College Of DuPage Department Of Health Sciences

College of DuPage is among the ultrasound technician schools in Illinois, which have strict ultrasound education requirements to be qualified for the degree programs the school offers. An applicant is required to have completed Allied Health science degree program and should have an active license in a specific health care field. It is also a prerequisite that the applicant has taken an advanced math course at the College of DuPage. The good thing about the strict requirement of the health care career is that after the student has completed the two-year associate degree in ultrasound sonography, he has the choice of what profession he will practice. One of the main requirements in the job market is good education that a job seeker has completed. With the two-year associate degree from College of Dupage, the graduate is given many opportunities to have a brighter future ahead.

Harper College Health Care Careers Department

Harper College close to Chicago is offering a limited number of students per enrollment. Applicants must be able to attend the required informational meeting, submit application and pass the entrance examination in order to be considered for enrollment. Harper College offers associate degree program, which will prepare the students to be employed as a sonographer in the entry-level after completing the two-year program. Harper College is recommending its graduates to take the ARDMS credentialing examination in the field of obstetric/gynecologic and abdominal ultrasound after the graduates have completed the required number of years in school and after one-year work experience. A graduate who passes the credentialing examination provided by ARDMS has more chances to earn high ultrasound tech salary.

There are still many other ultrasound technician schools in Illinois, which are offering degree programs in medical sonography.
