The job of the ultrasound sonographer involves the generation of clear images or sonographs of the patient’s internal organs, soft tissues and veins which will aid the medical doctor to make the complete diagnosis of the medical disease. On the other hand, the job of the medical biller and medical coder is to submit and follow up regarding various claims to insurance companies to aid the medical professionals of the payment for the medical services they have rendered. Both professions require formal education and training in order to learn the skills, which will be used in accomplishing their individual tasks in the medical field. The medical sonography education and training requires at least two years for the students to be in training schools while the careers related to medical billing and coding only require the students to study for at least 9 months to 12 months. Medical billing and coding schools are everywhere in order to offer education and training for interested students. Online education and training are easily available and accessible for both careers. Ultrasound certification is optional. The medical billing and coding certification can also be optional since most of the medical coder and billers seek employment right after graduation from their training schools.
