One of the requirements in Indiana is the accomplishment of the ultrasound programs. There are at least three categories for education: the one-year certificate program, the two-year associate degree program and the four-year bachelor degree program. High school graduates are fitted for the associate degree and the bachelor degree programs. Those who have background in Medicine and are employed in the healthcare industry can opt for the certificate program to learn basic ultrasound technician principles and techniques. Though medical employers hire associate degree graduates, they prefer medical sonographers who are holders of the bachelor degree diploma. Any ultrasound graduate with a bachelor degree diploma will have more chances to get a job with good salary.
License is optional but can be included in the ultrasound technician requirements in Indiana. There are states in the USA nowadays, which are implementing the policy that ultrasound technicians must be able to have license acquired from the ARDMS or the CCI.
