This article is a brief overview of the how to pursue an ultrasound tech career and be able to earn a higher salary in Michigan. Michigan is a well-known state when it comes to ultrasound sonography careers with strict requirements. This is because it is one of the states, which have strict rules when it comes to the license. All diagnostic medical sonographers in Michigan must be registered by the ARDMS. Without the license, ultrasound technicians are not qualified to perform his duties of generating clear images of the patient’s internal organs, soft tissues and veins. New Mexico and Michigan have the same state rules regarding license while in all the other states the license is optional.

Completing at least the two-year associate degree program if not the four-year bachelor degree program is important in order to start the career in the field of ultrasound sonography. It is very helpful to finish the degree in accredited schools because it guarantees the graduates of immediate qualification to the registry exam of the ARDMS. Graduates from non-accredited programs are required to have a one-year clinical training as a qualification to the registry exam of the ARDMS. There are at least ten ultrasound technician schools which offer accredited programs to interested individuals who are residing in Michigan to pursue the career.

The job outlook for medical sonographers in Michigan will remain good. This is backed up by the report of the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, which states that the employment growth for the field of ultrasound sonography from 2008 to 2016 would be 19%. More job opportunities will be available. Pursuing the career in Michigan or in any state in the US is a good decision because the career promises a better and brighter future by means of providing several rewarding benefits.
