Upon completion of the requirements, the applicant is then qualified to become part of the team and perform the duties and responsibilities of an ultrasound tech. Here are some of the important ultrasound job requirements, which the applicant should meet.
Ultrasound Technician Degree
One of the most important requirements is the degree, which one has completed in one of the ultrasound technician schools. The three categories of the ultrasound tech degrees, which the students can choose from is the one-year certificate program, two-year associate degree program and the four-year bachelor degree program. Whichever program you finished is entitled for any of the jobs related to sonography. However, not all degree or programs are entitled to be taken by young high school graduates. One-year certificate program is intended for the professionals who have a background and is working in any of the allied health field. Mostly, doctors are highest number of enrollees in the one-year certificate programs. Physicians benefit in this program because they need ultrasound background and interpretations for the proper diagnosis of patients’ diseases.
High school graduates as well as those who are professionals from other fields can enroll whether the two-year associate ultrasound tech program or the bachelor degree program, which can qualify them to practice in the field of sonography.
Ultrasound Technician Schools
One of the educational requirements is that the applicant should be a graduate of CAAHEP accredited ultrasound tech programs. This is to guarantee the employers that their future employees have received qualifed ultrasound training and education.
Ultrasound Technician License
License acquisition is optional. However, some of the states in the USA have included license acquisition in their ultrasound tech job regulations. Before being hired in such states, an ultrasound tech should be ready to take the credentialing examination from ARDMS or CCI in order to get a license.
