Since geographical location of the job is a factor when it comes to the difference of salaries, some states or cities are higher in salary rates than other areas. In the United States, the highest paying state when it comes to salary of ultrasound technician is Colorado.

Hospital based sonographers earn $63,770 annually. Doctors who have the highest sonography employees pay around $63,820 for a yearly income. Sonogarpher salary in medical and diagnostic laboratories setting is an average of $61,820 each year.

As of December 2010, the average earning of an ultrasound technician at the state of Colorado can have an average of $78,378. In Illinois ultrasound technicians can earn an average of $54, 000 year. An average of $52,000 is the annual income of technicians in North Carolina. In the state of Oregon, the average yearly income is $51,000. This figure is the same with the state of Texas. Pennsylvania technicians earn an average of $ 49, 000 while for California and Arizona the average annual pay is $ 47, 000. These states are among the highest paying when it comes to ultrasound technician salary.

Many people have desires in becoming medical sonographers because of the high salary figures. For those who are interested in pursuing ultrasound careers, required training and completion of the degree program should be accomplished. These are offered in the ultrasound technician schools accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs. Without accomplishing the requirement, it is not possible to get accreditation from the ARMDS.
