Students can either take the Bachelor of Science in Audiology, Master of Science in Audiology or the postgraduate diploma in Audiology. Medical sonography training involves also three major ways in becoming diagnostic medical sonographer. Certificate programs in Sonography, Associate Degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography and Bachelor of Science in Diagnostic Medical Sonography are the three major ways in order for one to become ultrasound technician. Both audiologist education and sonography education can be taken through online schools.

The number of years a student spends in audiology education and training is longer than in an ultrasound technician training. Audiologist schools as well as ultrasound technician colleges are strategically established all over the US where aspiring sonographers or audiologists can enroll their degree programs.

Audiologist Employment VS Sonographer Employment

Audiologist jobs will not be as abundant as with the sonographer jobs but the employment growth of the field of audiology is much faster than the average. The only problem for job employment is that the there is a small size of occupation; thereby more preference is given for higher level of educational attainment when it comes to hiring. The employment growth for audiologist jobs will have an increase of 25% while the ultrasound sonography employment growth has 19% growth from 2008 to 2018.

Ultrasound Technician Jobs in 2012Average audiologist salary in terms of per hour is $32.05 while the annual income has an average of $66,660. The ultrasound tech salary is relatively higher than the audiologist salary in general. Accomplishing all the requirements such as audiologist training in order to be employed as an audiologist will guarantee the professional to have a better and brighter future.
