Ultrasound schools are imperative to be accredited with the CAAHEP, which is the only accrediting bureau of degree programs in the field of allied health services. In New Jersey, there are sonography schools offering accredited degree programs to interested individuals. Though ultrasound technician schools in NJ are not as many as those in New York and Florida, students who are aspiring to become medical sonographers can have a way to pursue their dreams. In accredited CAAHEP schools in NJ students are able to learn the proper skills and the proper techniques which can be utilized further in their professional lives.

Here are a list of the institutions in NJ offering accredited degree programs for individuals to pursue the ultrasound career.

  1. University of Medicine & Dentistry of New Jersey-North – Scotch Plains, NJ
  2. Sanford Brown Institute-Iselin – Iselin, NJ
  3. JFK Medical Center – Plainfield, NJ
  4. Gloucester County College – Sewell, NJ
  5. Bergen Community College – Paramus, NJ

There are other colleges which are offering diagnostic medical sonography degree programs in NJ but are not accredited by the CAAHEP. It is important for the students to investigate on the schools, which they choose to enroll in order to make sure that they receive the best education to be prepared for work in the field of sonography. With accredited programs, the graduates can immediately become qualified to take the registry examination which is implemented by the ARDMS. This registry examination will award the ultrasound license to the graduates who will pass the examination. Being licensed is optional for ultrasound sonographers, however, many medical employers offer higher salaries in New Jersey and all over the US to licensed sonographers versus non-licensed professionals.

It is not difficult to become an ultrasound technician professional if the students choose the accredited and the best schools. In accredited schools students will receive quality education to learn about ultrasound sonography techniques and principles in order for them to become professionals who can deliver quality service in the healthcare field.
