The factors that affect ultrasound technician salary range are experience, location of employment, certifications or sub-specialties of the technician, license and many others. For the location of work, it is broken down into two: the city of employment and the state of employment. Both of the city and state employment are affecting the ultrasound tech salary range in different ways. New York is one of the states that offer higher compensation for ultrasound sonographers.

In Ithaca, the average annual ultrasound salary is $86,330 while the regions of Westchester, Long Island, New York, White Plains, Brooklyn and Queens offer compensation for an ultrasound tech amounting to $86,111.  Syracuse ultrasound sonographers offer salary of $81,544 while regions like Burlington, Congers, Manhattan, Nassau and Yaphank compensate ultrasound sonographers with an average of $81, 311. Areas such as Schenectady and Glens Fall ultrasound sonographers receive an average yearly income of $80,980 and $77,849 per year respectively.

Though the last two regions reviewed for salary is lower than the other regions, it is still evident that ultrasound technician pay all throughout New York is higher than the national pay for ultrasound technicians. Students in New York who are currently in ultrasound technician schools to pursue degree programs in ultrasound sonography have chosen a career that will give them a brighter future.

Ultrasound sonographer license is optional for the state of New York and all ultrasound graduates are eligible to apply in hospitals and diagnostic centers where ultrasound technicians are needed. The only requirement of the state for ultrasound sonographers is to have a continuing medical education that is acquired from the ARDMS. The American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography issue certification for RDMS for continuing education that is renewed every three years.
